Rain Gutter Installation Custom Box Gutter Installation

Here are few, of the many different installation methods and lingo that may be used on your install.

The two main types of gutter systems are sectional and seamless. Sectional gutters only come in 10' sections and can be purchased through a home improvement depot store, or supply house.

How to determine which Seamless Rain Gutters and Downspouts...
5 inch seamless rain gutters are common on most residential homes or small businesses. This size rain gutter will handle water draining off of smaller roofs. 5 inch gutters are commonly equipped with 2x3 inch down spouts, but larger 3x4 inch down spouts can be put in areas that require more water drainage.

6 inch seamless rain gutters are commonly used on larger roofs and commercial buildings. Larger roofs that drain mass amounts of water need a larger gutter system that can catch and drain the rain water faster. 6 inch gutters are equipped with 3x4 inch down spouts, which makes it a great gutter system for larger roofs.

5 inch seamless rain gutters can be equipped with 3x4 inch down spouts but for maximum water drainage choose a 6 inch seamless rain gutter with 3x4 down spouts.

One 2 x 3 downspout for every 600 square ft. of roofing area.
One 3 x 4 downspout for every 1200 square ft. of roofing area.

Example: If your roof is 40 ft. long and 16 ft. to the peak. 40 x 16 = 640 square ft. area
Requires (2) 2x3 downspouts or (1) 3x4 downspout

6" Seamless Rain Gutters may be required to accommodate steep pitch roofs, slate roofs, tile roofs, commercial buildings and other areas depending on the gutter install. 6" gutter should always be equipped with 3x4 downspouts

Rain Gutter Installation Rain Gutter Miter

Miters are where two pieces of gutter come together. There are three types of miters. They are Box, Strip, and Hand Cut also called Custom. Hand Cut is the standard for any gutter company that knows what they are doing. A Hand cut miter is fabricated at the end of each piece of gutter. The two gutters meet up at the corner, and are secured together, than the 1 seam gets sealed.

Rain Gutter Installation Box Miter Gutter Installation

Box miters are the worst. Box miters are not preferred by contractors or homeowners who only want one seam. A box miter has 3 seams that need to be sealed, making the chance of a leak much greater. A box miter is used by companies and homeowners with very little or no gutter experience.

Rain Gutter Installation Strip Miter Rain Gutter

Strip miters are not preferred by contractors or homeowners who only want one seam per corner. Strip miters have 2 seams that must be sealed. A strip miter is used by companies and homeowners with little or no gutter experience.

Rain Gutter Installation Rain Gutter Hanger

There are many types of hangers, varying in size, shape and material. We use a steel hidden hanger as our standard gutter hanger.

Rain Gutter Installation Rain Gutter Roof Strap

A Roof Strap is used in situations where the fascia board is slanted, has crown molding, or if there is no fascia board at all. A Roof Strap will add stability to the gutter system and maintain the proper angle of the gutter.

Rain Gutter Installation Rain Gutter Wedges

Gutter Wedges are used in situations where the fascia board is slanted. Wedges add stability to the gutter system and maintain the proper angle of the gutter.
